As a culture, we tend to evaluate a person’s mood, attitude, and overall personality, based on the appearance of their eyes at first glance. As eyes are popularly referred to as the “windows of the soul,” they are often a focal point of the face and can leave others with a negative impression or detract from an entire appearance if the surrounding skin is blemished or unappealing.
Eyelid surgery, or “blepharoplasty,” is a highly sought-after procedure due to its effective results. It can greatly improve the surrounding area of the eyes with a more youthful, rested, and alert appearance.
The variety of problematic, yet treatable, conditions that can be corrected with upper and/or lower blepharoplasty include:
- Excess fatty deposits, or “puffiness,” in the upper eyelids
- Loose or sagging skin that can cause folds, disturb the contours of the eyelid and impair vision
- Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid
- “Bags” under the eyes
- Droopiness in the lower eyelids, which may show the colored portion of the eye (white below the iris)
You may qualify for upper and/or lower blepharoplasty, depending on the areas you wish to improve. Dr. Hazen ensures a safe experience, as neither the upper nor lower incision of the eyelid requires any contact with the eye itself.
